Whole-Home Repiping Solutions
A common question about our repiping services in Manatee County concerns whether we can repipe an occupied home. The answer to that question is yes. We don’t need to turn the water off at all times. Our plumbers can shut it off temporarily and strategically for changeovers. We can also repipe your home in sections to work around your needs. Our team can even repipe homes that the homeowners continue to use for work-from-home purposes.
Another prevalent question is whether whole-home repiping requires permits, and the answer is also yes. Most repiping projects require major plumbing alterations and thus require a plumbing permit. Our team will pull all the required permits. We’ll also oversee the local code-compliance inspections that ensure we’ve repiped your home to modern Florida Building Code standards.
We offer a range of materials for repiping with cross-linked polyethylene (PEX) being the most prevalent. Nowadays, it’s common to use mostly plastic pipes and only use copper as needed. PEX is prevalent in this region and throughout the U.S. because it performs well and lasts 50 years or longer. It’s also very cheap in comparison to copper. Chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC) is similar to PEX and is an alternative. We’ll often use it for hot water and outdoor applications. It can also be preferable for highly chlorinated water supplies.
You don’t necessarily have to replace your fixtures when repiping. We’ll typically replace all the fittings that facilitate your fixtures. It’s also necessary to upgrade any traps and other drainage components to modern standards. Once we’ve done that, we can simply reinstall the fixtures you already have and love. That said, if you have fixtures you don’t love, this is an excellent time to upgrade them. We can install high-efficiency dual-flush toilets that reduce bathroom-related water use by up to 50%. Other notable upgrades include low-flow faucet aerators, pot fillers, garbage disposal systems, and low-flow showerheads.
